Some benefits of joining QARDSS:
1. QARDSS members can give support to other members and their families. They can provide this help as many are either sufferers of an asbestos related disease themselves or have relatives or close friends who are suffering. Because they have lived through similar situations, they have a great deal of understanding of what you may be experiencing.
2. We can point you in the right direction so you can get the best medical and legal advice. We are among the first to know about current medical treatment and what is happening with research for a cure for asbestos-related diseases. We can pass this information on to our members.
3. We have a newsletter which is sent to all members to keep them in touch with what is happening in the Society, forthcoming events and up to date advances.
4. We hold meetings in Brisbane on the second Tuesday of each second month where useful information is available. Members and their friends are welcome.
5. We also hold special events each year where members can help if they wish. National Asbestos Awareness Day which is held in November, for example, raises awareness of asbestos disease. These events provide an opportunity for making new friends at the same time as doing something worthwhile.
